Price of Book Questions?

I found the book to be very thought provoking, and of value to anybody of any age dealing with other human beings of any age or any degree of personal accomplishment. We are all of special needs, and those needs do influence our interactions with one another. It wasn't Hartsell's intention to write a book of such broad focus and impact. He is concerned deeply and effectively with the problems of those special classrooms and the students and teachers who inhabit them. But by examining some extreme situations he has created a sensitive description of the vagaries of human psychology, and of the complexities of how we react with one another. One again, I recommend it to all of you, very highly. Ken, retired UT professor This book sounds like a must read for anyone working with children. While listening to the interview, I decided to clean up my computer room. I sponged off all the surfaces I could and by the end of the interview I had the room cleaned quite well, probably cleaner than it has been in years- so thanks for that and for teaching me a few things in the process. Robin, Parent Today I heard from Edna W. and she read your book in one night. She wanted to know if I needed it back now, or if she could pass it around to her teachers. She said it was "wonderful". PJ, Parent It's like a conversation with you about what's really true. I can't express very well what I mean, but I felt that there are ways that I approach N. that don't work and I could put myself into examples of yours. It's really refreshing to read a book that won't tell you if you do this and this and this, everything will be fine. PJ, Parent It is pretty rare that I can sit down and read a 137-page book at one sitting. This is a VERY good book — practical, almost zen-like in its simplicity, thoughtful, and witty. Since my child exhibits some of the behaviors discussed, I know for a fact that the approach you describe actually works Wendy, Parent Jim — I got your book in the mail yesterday...and it's GREAT! I can't wait to share it with the interns. Amy, UT Professor Hey Jim, I am listening to your interview. It was great!! Don't under estimate your ability to speak on the air. You really did sound awesome. I am proud to say hey, I know him Sue, Colleague I listened to the entire interview and thought you did a very good job explaining the book, and the art of working with children (and the adults associated with them, who are sometimes more challenging than the kids themselves). I was, and continue to be, very impressed. Leslie, Colleague |
